How?
Plan ahead. Decide on what you’d like to cook and make a shopping list or choose from one of the many pre-prepared products now on the market. Replace one meat or fish meal with a plant-based one and you could save up to 15kg greenhouse gas emissions per serving!

Why?
Food production is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Vegetables have a much lower carbon footprint than that of meat and fish (beef, lamb and farmed fish have the highest). The production of two quarter pounder beef burgers emits more greenhouse gas than one tree can absorb in a year! So a small change in your diet, can make a big difference.
See our Recipes for some meal ideas and check out the graph on our Facts & Figures page for some more information on food emissions.
